Restoration of the Chasa Pepina facade
The facade of the Chasa Pepina is decorated using the traditional sgraffito technique. The building belongs to the Meisser Ressort, which has been run as a hotel for 130 years (1893) and houses the Schellenursli Museum. Guarda became known as a village through the systematic restoration of the houses by the ‘Pro Campagna’ from 1939 to 1945, which was a milestone on the way to modern townscape protection.
Following water damage, the façade of Chasa Pepina was restored. After a thorough investigation into the cause, the flaws and cracks were filled and sealed with lime plaster. The plastered areas were covered with lime whitewash and the missing sgraffito sections were scratched into the damp plaster.
